A review project that paid off!

This week I have been working on our science review for the unit "Energy and Matter in Chemical Change" This poster was a great way to review for our test on Wednesday. As a matter of fact, I scored a 90 % on the test!!!!!!!!!!

A Social Studies project that makes an impact

The poster is a timeline that shows the events that led up to the genocide that happened in Rwanda.

This school year has been so busy with our volleyball teams, our student council events and welcoming new staff and students, that it is hard to believe it is already the middle of November.

Winter is here so please make sure the kids are dressed properly for the weather.  Christmas break is coming up, as is our Concert on December 18th.

We are still fundraising to help with busing costs with bake sales, gift card sales, cookie dough and a cake walk on November 27th.  The grade 7-8 class is off to Edmonton in the spring.  They are busy fundraising and if you would like to make a donation to the group please contact me here.  We will be holding a silent auction at the concert in December and are looking for donations.  Please drop off at the school.

Thank you to the staff for an amazing start to the year, to Saddle Hills county for the support and to all the parents and guardians of our students. Savanna school is very fortunate to have such a supportive community.

Modelling the digestive system

This is my digestive system.  I made the small organs out of spaghetti, the gull bladder is made of gum balls, the poop is plasticine, and the stomach is made of a balloon.

Mrs. Leiske's busy fall

It's been an incredibly busy fall! School is off to a great start and I have another fantastic group of kids.  I thought that I would share the pink award and merit awards that one student wrote out for me. This student wrote me out a pink award for "finishing all my school work" and the yellow one says " I love you Mrs. Leiske".  I was so thrilled to see this student writing phonetically.  I know that merit awards have been a part of of the Savanna School culture for a very long time.  It is also exciting and rewarding to know that they are still inspiring for students.

New this fall we started an at home reading program.  As a parent, I appreciate the incentive for getting our children to focus on reading.  As a staff at school, it is very exciting to see reading encouraged more at home.
